Welcome to the MPA Blog!
This site is about the artists, images and all information about the MPA. At it’s core, the site is dedicated to personal stories. Stories about pictures, artists, and photographic inspiration. We are more interested in why images are made than in how they are made. The MPA blog site is as much about inspiration and storytelling as it is about iPhoneography and Mobile Photography.
You will find the stories behind each of the MPA 2011 winning images, essays on creative motivation, news and information on MPA events, a gallery shop, mobile photography tips and more.
The site has two featured sections: STORYLINES and INSPIRATIONS
STORYLINES is a twice-weekly segment on why we make images – the personal stories behind them and the emotions we hope to convey to both ourselves and the viewers. Think of it as the heart behind the art. Each week from January though April STORYLINES will feature two of our 25 category award winners in their own words.
INSPIRATIONS is a weekly segment about personal photographic motivations. Is it a love for our neighborhood? Our natural surroundings? A desire to seek out the unknown? See what drives some of our finest mobile photographers to pursue their creativity.
The site also features a weekly showcase on mobile photo tips. Want to improve your landscape shots? Learn about the latest cool gear for your iPhone? See exactly how the iPhone street masters shoot without being noticed? Dig deeper into how various apps can be combined to create new effects? Check out our TIPS, written by some of the best mobile photographers and bloggers on the scene.
The site is home to a print shop where signed, limited fine art editions of the winning images, honorable mentions and a select few other magnificent pictures may be purchased. Look for the shop to open by the end of January or sooner.
You may also join our mailing list to be eligible for great discounts, app promo codes, news, information, the latest posts, as well as information on gallery events and the inside track on the next MPA.
We sincerely hope you find our site useful, interesting and maybe even occasionally inspiring. Thanks for visiting!
All the best,
